On november 12th and 13th, Team Sweden was in Chennai, meeting the Govt of Tamil Nadu, our Swedish companies there but also local students interested to study in Sweden.
We kick-started the engagement with a visit to one our members Cavotec who had recently inaugurated a new factory just outside Chennai, as part of our sustainability program #AGreenJourney. Representatives from Gislen Software, Trelleborg Marine & Infrastructure, Getinge, and Nefab, where apart from exploring the facility we discussed areas of mutual learning and growth, such as the upcoming EU environmental regulations amongst other topics.
This was followed by a reception in the evening where senior leaders from close to 20 different Swedish companies joined, in parallel to the ‘Study in Sweden’ fair for students interested to pursue courses in Sweden. Later that evening, we met Dr. TRB Rajaa, Honorable Minister of Industries Govt of Tamil Nadu and senior leaders from Guidance Cell, Tamil Nadu as part of our strategic platform, Investment Facilitation Mechanism (IFM). From the Swedish side, the meeting was led by the Ambassador of Sweden to India, Jan Thesleff and Sara Larsson, CEO of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce India, together with Sofia Högman, Trade Commissioner and Head of Business Sweden, and Arun Vasu, Honorary Consul of Sweden to Tamil Nadu.
16 different Swedish companies discussed key areas for future growth and expansion in the State, and areas of possible collaboration in the area of green energy, boosting local eco-systems with greater focus on employment and environmental sustainability.
With nearly 70 Swedish companies employing around 25,000 people in Tamil Nadu and growing… our commitment to sustainable and collaborative growth of the State remains strong.
