About the event
A Quality Control Order (QCO) is a directive issued by the Government of India that mandates the conformance of certain products to specified Indian Standards. These orders make it compulsory for manufacturers and importers to obtain BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification before selling their products in India. The introduction of Quality Control Orders (QCOs) has significantly increased in recent years from 146 products in March 2018 to 769 products by March 2025. The government is looking to bring over 2,000 products under the QCO system in the coming years.
Implementation of these orders poses significant challenges and disruption to supply chains.
Join us to learn more about QCOs in general, and to gain valuable insights and advice from Swedish companies in India on their approach to this compliance requirement. For businesses operating in, or exporting to India, this session is an opportunity to understand more on how to navigate this.
The session will be moderated by Kiran Acharya, ex-CFO and MD of Sandvik Coromant India and Director on the Board of SCCI, in conversation with Atul Atitkar, Head of Procurement at Alfa Laval and Saju SR, Senior VP, Smart Power, Electrification at ABB. Varda Taneja, Advisor- Public Affairs, will present an overview of the current scenario.
This event is part of our strategic platform, Partnership in Policy where we engage with key stakeholders to co-create an open business environment, to unlock potential in existing businesses, and to increase sustainable investments into India
